<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;">
Perfect timing to finally get this blog spotlight on you finished and posted.
In case any of you do not already know, Kelsey is the new Head Brewer at
Mayday Brewery. How awesome is that?! Mayday is already the coolest place in town and
makes the best beer around, but now they have a woman head brewer. That is rare
in the brewery world, and she is killing it! For me, and I know other people as
well, it's also loads of fun to talk beer with her. It is rare to find a woman
that knows much about beer, but when you do you can count on some killer beer
knowledge. She is the brains and science behind much of the beer at Mayday and
can tell you some interesting facts about the beer. Now she has the ability to apply her
knowledge to making the beer and creating some incredibly delicious beer. Be on
the look out to see what she creates. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

in the tasting room…not working either, just hanging out like a normal person.
Weird, right? This gave me the wonderful opportunity to hang out with her and
get to know her a little more. Let me just say, she is way cool. Definitely
lots of fun to be around her and soak up some of her super chill personality.
She is quite sociable and not afraid to just meet people and make friends. I love
it. We’ve had multiple fun conversations about beer, but mostly from behind the
bar. She has taught me new things and it
makes me feel special when she asks me to try a beer. It’s also a lot of fun to get to go into the
brewery and watch her work, sometimes even get to help. So, hanging out with
her was definitely a cool experience. There is never a quiet or dull or awkward
moment with her. The conversation and fun times just keep going. She is always
smiling and just appears to be loving life and having fun. There is a very cool
spark about her that attracts a lot of positive energy. I got the chance to snag her for a brief
interview.<o:p></o:p></div>

Come one. Come all. Come see
the amazing Ozzy and take one of the crazy fun tours. They are every Saturday
at 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00, no reservation required. I’m just going to go ahead and guarantee a good time. You will
also get to meet The Mayday Treasure Terron as he starts the tour and pours the
beer. Sometimes you will even get to see
me, standing of in the corner taking random pictures. Haha…You will also get to
meet many of the regulars who take the tour on a regular basis. Some of these
guys like Ray, Mike, Brittney, and Savanna have been on the tour so many times
they are giving their souvenir tour glasses away as gifts, or having to remove
their everyday glasses out of their kitchen cabinets at home to make room for
more tour glasses. They are pretty cool glasses. It’s also fun how the regulars
interact with Ozzy and help add to the fun of the tour. Just having so many people
coming back regularly to take the tour lets you know that it is definitely
something worth experiencing. Heck I think some of these guys have been on the
tour “as many times as I have,” Ozzy would say. That’s a sure fire sign they
are a good time. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxbW5lHvRnae2tymq46bjzqz-GxtfU-Ht7tmU1-ujt-zRzCLwnisG4JebxbjrNJhvbSD-hHi-9U5mV3C-YZ7rP8scPbkd93r6Awjnu8fsKUXW75VdaFafh-6ottFbSyI69ZMJsANGbb0M/s1600/photo+4+%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxbW5lHvRnae2tymq46bjzqz-GxtfU-Ht7tmU1-ujt-zRzCLwnisG4JebxbjrNJhvbSD-hHi-9U5mV3C-YZ7rP8scPbkd93r6Awjnu8fsKUXW75VdaFafh-6ottFbSyI69ZMJsANGbb0M/s320/photo+4+%25285%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a>Another thing that makes the tours so much fun is the level
of audience participation. Ozzy encourages this by rewarding smart ass comments
with an animal cracker. He goes through a lot of animal crackers. Every tour
that I have been on has had me cracking up at some point along the way. Usually
about halfway through everyone is loosened up and really having a good time and
cracking all kinds of jokes and one-liners. You will hear things like Brian
asking “Is Ron Jeremy your dad?” Then Rachael said, referring to the animal
crackers, “down for a good cause.” “Puff, puff pass” is probably one of the
best things I’ve heard on the tour. Jared was a very clever man to come up with
that one. The most common things I hear people say are “This is the best tour I
have ever been on.” “I have never been on a tour like this before.” It makes
the whole experience that much better when you hear so many people say that
about Ozzy and his tours. We have had several people travel here just because
of these tours. Meaghan came from Massachusetts to take a tour. Kris and his
wife came from Georgia; friends from Wisconsin and Michigan have also made the
trip. There are many, many more traveling people that have taken a Mayday tour
and will be many more. SO come take a tour. Not only do you get a cool glass,
ample samples, crazy Ozzy and the occasional serenade or instrumental preview
from the band, you also meet some really cool people and have a phenomenal
time! <o:p></o:p></div>

Another great part of Mayday is how they help and support local musicians.
Their music motto is “No cover charges and no cover bands.” These musicians
come to perform for the love of the people and Mayday. Come listen and support
them and help them to get their names and music out to the masses! Every Friday
and Saturday there are live bands. Sometimes there will be music on Thursdays
also. Also, keep a lookout; we might start a “selfie with the band” posting.
Already have a few. Get to Mayday this weekend for a really fun time!<br />

for something to do this summer, do not look any further! Mayday Brewery has
plenty of entertaining options to choose from. On Cinco de Mayo Mayday hosted its first <b>Sushi Class</b>. The class sold out in no time and was phenomenal! Our instructor Kelly was lots of fun and very helpful in explaining the process. I
had no idea how easy it actually is to make sushi, but now, the lucky person
who gets a date with me will get to eat some amazing Sushi made at home. Kelly made
the entire experience a blast. She explained the rice, the sauces, the meats,
and was very detailed in explaining everything. We did have a High Maintenance table that kept all of us on our toes. These ladies
were quick and if we had animal crackers from our tours they would have gotten their share, but Kelly took it in stride and we
had a fun and educational Cinco de Mayo. Kelly will be leading another <b>sushi class</b> at Mayday on <b>May 26</b>, so be sure and get your tickets early. You will love
it!<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">This week, I also
participated in my first <b>Yoga at Mayday</b> class with Layce. I’m a </span><span style="font-size: 18px;">power-lifter</span><span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> that
just started training for my first trail half marathon and my body is feeling
it. I’ve been pondering yoga for a while and finally had the opportunity to
participate in this class. Shockingly, I was able to do most of the poses! Lacey makes this class very manageable for people of all skill levels,
and you will find a nice sense of peace and becoming centered through it all.
Not to mention, I finally wore yoga pants for yoga and got to enjoy a delicious
beer (looking a hot, sweaty mess) with a fabulous group of women afterwards. Lacey has created something special. Not only are you getting some
great exercise for your body, you are benefiting mentally as well, all in a
great space where the Mayday beer is produced. The next yoga class will be
May 14 at 1:00pm. Follow <b>Yoga at Mayday</b> on <b>Facebook</b> for class schedules. </span><br />

Jenga</b> has taken off now that the weather is nicer. Every day there is someone
attempting to master this game and break the record for tallest tower. You can
also hear the loud crash of the blocks quite often. No matter how many times it
happens, I will always be a little startled. There are times
when the Jenga has become the focus of the evening because it is that interesting.
I’ve even heard of a few people trying to mathematically or scientifically find
the best way to master the game. I’m thinking a Jenga tournament would be fun,
what do you think? <o:p></o:p></span><br />

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">There are so many other wonderful

Fridays and Saturdays, and 2-4-1 on Wednesdays and small batches on Thursdays
(and sometimes live music Thursdays as well). So come check them out and follow
the on Facebook and Instagram. Also, keep following this blog. Share it with

The May Day JAMbalaya was incredible!! There could not
have been a more perfect event. This day truly exposed the Mayday Family
environment I’ve been trying to express over the last few months. There were so
many patrons and first time guests at this event. I spent most of the day just
people watching and soaking in the experience. Everywhere I looked were signs
of people coming together from the community as a family. You could really see
how proud everyone was to have Mayday and be a part of something so special. When
the first batch of crawfish came out everyone was so excited. There were people
crowding around to take pictures and video the moment. Tony from My Roots put
on a beautiful performance of “plating the food.” People gathered at the table
watching him spread the crawfish, and then add the lemons, potatoes, corn and
seasoning was really fun. Oh yes, good times!!<o:p></o:p></div>

What
goes better with good food than good beer and good music?! Mayday also released
their new beer Going CoMango. It’s a
delicious Mango Shandy that is perfect for the upcoming hot summer days. In
addition to the success of the new beer, they also had a great turnout for the
open mic jam. Several local musicians came out to showcase their wonderful
talents. It was truly a jam session also. So many of the musicians would play
their sets, and then join in with other sets. They were treating it just like a
jam session and rocking out some phenomenal music together. That’s what you do at family gatherings,
right? Meet up on Sunday afternoons, cookout, and catch up, show of your
talents and introduce the new people in your life. <o:p></o:p></div>

There were several new people being introduced to Mayday
this Sunday. Ozzy did a couple tours and the second tour was almost entirely people
visiting the brewery for the first time. Alice brought Meaghan, all the way
from Massachusetts. The girls were a
riot. Alice was quick with the zingers like, “Auger…I barely know her!” and “No
money for your package?! Sorry about your luck.” There were many more but I couldn’t keep up
with them all. The zingers must have made her hungry because she ate half the bowl
of animal crackers on this tour. This day was full of happy faces from all ages
and for all reasons. Keep a lookout on
the website and Facebook page for updates of other fabulous events at Mayday.
They will most definitely be worth the trip. Ozzy and Mayday love the people so
come out and show how much you love them!!<o:p></o:p></div>

Two weeks gone felt like a long time, but I was rewarded greatly for the break. My power lifting competition was a huge success, and now I'm back at my favorite place to meet people and share experiences. This was also a good week to come back. In fact, so much to talk about I'm going to have to break the excitement down into two separate blogs. That's the kind of rad stuff I'm looking for when I'm at Mayday! Friday night April 8th was the Boro Art Crawl and Mayday featured one of the new regulars, Jeff Russo. This dude is quite a character and it was so much fun to share in this experience with him. I saw him Thursday night at the brewery and he was all a glow. Busting at the seams with excitement to show off his artwork and his infamous art car the next day. It's been a while since I've seen anyone so excited. Friday he was in the groove, with his cool jacket and top hat. He floated around the entire space talking with the multitude of people inquiring about his art. Just imagine how cool it was be to be the center of attention at such and awesome place. I was joined by one of my dearest high school friends, Cynthia (which was so much fun), and I could see and feel his excitement from across the room. To have your artwork on display for so many people to see is such a special experience. Jeff's very eccentric car and style and super positive personality have helped him to be recognized as the fantastic artist he is. Mayday was so wonderful for putting his artwork along with his face out into the community. He has only been here a few months and now he is a recognizable artist in town. A recognizable staple at Mayday, as well. This is part of the special awesomeness of the Mayday experience. There are not too many other places that helps transform dreams into reality. Being able to share in this experience with Jeff was very rewarding. Nice and reassuring there is good in life still. Mayday is definitely the place to experience the good in Murfreesboro.<br />
Saturday was a continuation of the greatness. Jeff finally got to go on his first brewery<br />
tour. Being that he is so cool, he was recognized during the tour as a regular and helped hold the microphone for Ozzy briefly. Being included on the tour was like a grand finale to his phenomenal weekend experience. Be certain not to miss the next 'Boro Art Crawl at Mayday on June 10 from 4 until 8ish.<br />
<br />

interesting people. To recreate the friend<br />
group atmosphere I had
back in KY. It started out quite a challenge, but then I started visiting
Mayday a little more regularly. Let me tell you, the last few weeks have been a
huge success in meeting people. The nicer weather is pulling people out and I
have had so much fun with new friends. A fun twist is that my day job is also
with the public. Recently I’ve seen several people from work at the brewery,
which always throws them off. Everyone seems to think I live at the gym, but
they do let me leave from time to time…haha.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Thursday was St. Patty’s Day and a huge success. So many
people out drinking green beer, eating the delicious food and rocking out to
some killer music. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/FestivusPlayers/?fref=ts" target="_blank">The Festivus Players</a>, and <a href="https://www.facebook.com/TomMasonandTheBlueBuccaneers/?fref=ts" target="_blank">Tom Mason and the BlueBuccaneers</a> were so much fun and was really getting the audience involved. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I also enjoyed seeing some friends and playing Cards Against
Humanity. While playing a cute and hilarious couple Tia and Ryan randomly sat
next to us and then joined the game. They were cracking me up and so much fun
to hang out with. It was exactly what I have been experiencing when I’m at
Mayday. New people, lots of laughs and a great time.<o:p></o:p></div>

of us make an interesting combination). and
met Guy, Katie, and Amanda. We had such
a great conversation with them and came up with some fun ideas about events for
the summer. It was so good to meet people outside of the brewery and hear about
how much they love it and are excited to spend time there. They had fun stories
to tell about their past visits and which beer they like most. Ozzy has
developed a little bit of a celebrity status in town and it was kind of cool to
see how people in the community reacted to seeing him. Mayday is definitely
making its presence known in the ‘Boro!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Saturday was another phenomenal day for meeting people. It
started with Beer and Writing with Karen Alea Ford. There I met Candice and
Alberta. A fun couple ladies that have some fascinating writing projects
underway. I learned so many helpful tips during this class. Karen stuck around
for quite a while and let me kind of hangout with her. Through her I met tons
of cool people and almost became part of her goal for that day to help me. She
is now my go-to when I need to meet people. Hope that’s ok Karen. Her husband
Colin, and the two other couples I met were a blast. They were definitely right
up my alley with the unique, kind of different from the norm, character. Like
the amazing hairdresser that I would’ve guessed was a landscaper. The
conversation just kept flowing and was very entertaining. I felt right at home.
The tours on Saturday also had some fun people. Tim and Terry were friends of
the band and enjoyed their first trip to Mayday, as well as the tour. Then I
met the lovely Virginia. She and her husband James take the tour regularly just
to give Ozzy a hard time. She was getting the best of Ozzy, and had everyone
rolling when she said “Have I said a word since I got beer & cheese
puffs?!” Oh my goodness, that was great!! <o:p></o:p><br />

This band brings a large and diverse crowd. They have a great following in the 'Boro, and why not? They really rock. If you missed <a href="https://www.facebook.com/mizeandthedrive/?fref=ts" target="_blank">Mize and the Drive</a>, they'll be rocking the outside stage at the brewery on May 21. </div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
All of this fun was just in a couple of days at Mayday. The
community spirit and awesome fun the people bring with them in to the brewery
is what makes this place amazing. It is most definitely a “home away from home”
kind of place. We want you to come experience it also. There is great music and
delicious food weekly. This week there will be Yoga and beer at 1:00 on
Saturday. Also, the famous tours at 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00. Come and introduce
yourself to me and let me hear your story about Mayday or just get to know you.
We want you to be a part of our story also. I’ll be looking for you!<o:p></o:p></div>

Last week was such a fun week. The release of Pequod on
Thursday, Trivia and “Red Wine Hangover” on Friday, the Wild West charity event
followed by “<a href="https://www.facebook.com/stuart.montez?fref=ts" target="_blank">Montez and the Groove Machine</a>” on Saturday, then, Beer and Hymns
on Sunday. Not to mention Mayday’s participation in The Gatsby Party to benefit
the Alzheimer’s Association. So much going on and so much more planned. Now
that the weather is warming up plan to spend some time on the fantastic Mayday deck.
I love the view of the courthouse from my spot on the deck. <o:p></o:p></div>

The performance by “<a href="https://www.facebook.com/RedWineHangoverMusic/?fref=ts" target="_blank">Red Wine Hangover</a>” on Friday was
phenomenal. Ozzy did the vocals on their song “Spins” and he killed it! I had
so much fun and even had to break down and dance a little on the last song.
Hard to resist the urge to move to great music, especially when there is so
much energy in the room. I’m pretty sure the crowd was equally as impressed.
There was a large turnout that kept the beautiful ladies behind the bar
incredibly busy, but they rocked it!! <o:p></o:p></div>

He was full of fun and
very interesting conversation. This dude knew a lot about seed. He sells the
seed that grows the barley that is malted to brew the delicious Mayday beer. “He
is Genesis and I am Revelation” as Ozzy says. The interesting people that come here are part
of what make my job so much fun. <o:p></o:p></div>

They
are a fascinating, eclectic, hippie couple that are always smiling and fun to
hangout with. I had no idea, but Ozzy says they play great bluegrass music.
Catch their show on April Fool’s Day at 6:00 at the brewery. Then there is
Vanessa and Spencer whom I met on one of the fabulous tours. They were doing an
excellent job of adding spice to the tour. Keeping up with Ozzy on a tour can
be challenging, but they nailed it. Group participation is always welcome. By
the way, I also got to help out Saturday with some of the activities, and.even
got to go behind the bar for a few moments…that was definitely a very proud
highlight of my day. Haha.<o:p></o:p><br />

activities, music and people at Mayday. The St. Patrick’s Day party on Thursday

First I have to say a big “thank you” to Lee Rennick for a
very sweet story to add to our blog last week. The love is very much what we
want you to feel when you experience Mayday. We love every one that enters our
doors and want to make sure you know it. It’s engrained in the energy. There are
so many lovely stories that tell the wonder of the Mayday experience. I mean
“beer, hugs, and rock n’ roll” …does it get better?<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
While it has been a nice couple of weeks off, it’s time to
get back to work. The stories keep coming. Even Trip Advisor is helping. The
weekend after Valentine’s Day, Heather and her husband were searching on the
internet for places to go near Cookeville and Mayday came up. They made their
way to the ‘Boro to celebrate a late Valentine’s Day weekend, and came by
Mayday. Heather said she “loved Mayday” and is definitely coming back. Just
like that a new fan of Mayday is born! They were lots of fun also and made my
job of finding a good story easy. Those are my favorite to share. Thumbs up to
Trip Advisor!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I met regulars Scott and Hillary last week who have come to
the brewery since the beginning. Scott discovered the brewery through one of
the many art shows that happen here. Since his first visit he was hooked, and
has been coming a few days a week since. He even introduced the brewery to
Hillary, who lives about 45 minutes away. She makes her way to the brewery as
often as she can. Despite the distance she loves the atmosphere and enjoys the
company of the people. <o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Since the weather was so beautiful this weekend, who could
resist trying to break the Giant Jenga record or playing a friendly game of
darts? Just so you know Olivia and I, along with two other fellas, hold the
record for the tallest Jenga tower. That had some tense moments. The entire room, including the band, was
completely taken by what was happening. Where else would you find such a
community spirit? Definitely a fun bucket list achievement.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
Come out this weekend and hangout with us. The killer band
“Red Wine Hangover” will be jamming acoustic with us Friday evening. Then Yoga
on Saturday at 1:00 in the brewery. $10 gets you an hour of yoga and a pint of beer at the end. Brewery tours are Saturday at 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00. Then Montez and the Groove Makers funk it
up at 6pm. The weather is finally warming up to enjoy some beer out on the
patio and have the doors open to let in the fresh air. Make it a part of your
weekend’s experience and share your story with me. I look forward to seeing
your lovely faces.<o:p></o:p></div>

But then, my husband, Jack, and I are known for not always following convention.<br />
<br />
Jack didn’t want to do anything upon his death, but there were too many friends and family who needed a chance to say good-bye. So, his family and I discussed having a Life Celebration instead.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpH_Nk0xSYL13D0PZ3niurNzAKmF7e1o_qhIWThPmLyOeSYtNFhUwO1XjoNVQ7R3bz5_C2ZhrrPfpwrFO2cEe5GYTRME4jwGIWMg_PHN1Kmr__M0aZTxke0FsnKXG06k-By2CxOGkTK_0/s1600/Jack+%2526+Zen+weighed+%2526+Measured.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpH_Nk0xSYL13D0PZ3niurNzAKmF7e1o_qhIWThPmLyOeSYtNFhUwO1XjoNVQ7R3bz5_C2ZhrrPfpwrFO2cEe5GYTRME4jwGIWMg_PHN1Kmr__M0aZTxke0FsnKXG06k-By2CxOGkTK_0/s320/Jack+%2526+Zen+weighed+%2526+Measured.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Since he loved a good beer and German food, I threw out having a party at Mayday Brewery. I knew Jack really liked their beer. His family agreed. As one of his visiting fraternity brothers said at the event, “It is so Jack.”<br />
<br />
We had our celebration on Saturday 2/20/2016. Ozzy and his staff were great. We shared the tasting room space from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on a Saturday. That allowed us to take over the main sitting area. We played Jack’s favorite music over the sound system, and showed a slide show of his life and loves on the big screen. Local caterer, Jo, from Jo’s Cakes & Catering created a German feast that passed the test of his German-born family. Mayday staff kept the beer flowing.<br />
<br />
The atmosphere was perfect for Jack’s eclectic tastes in music: including classic German oomph, Frank Zappa, A Pirate’s Life from Disney, Shout from Animal House, Parliment, Trisha Yearwood, Village People, Coolio, and the a piece from the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice.
The laid-back atmosphere was a great way to say good-bye to a man who began every dinner we had out together with the toast, “To life.”<br />

<br />
As she was heading out, a friend told me that when she passed she wanted me to put together the same thing for her. “I mean exactly the same, same food, same location, same beverages, same music. Just pictures of my life.”<br />
<br />
Ozzy, we might be starting a trend here.

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Wow! Last week at Mayday was amazing! Huge crowds, great
music, way cool art, Hot Chicken Waffle Sliders, and tons of fun! In just the
few short months I've been here, I've developed a sense of ownership, a feeling
that I want Mayday to do well and succeed. I want everything to look good and
be nice and everyone that comes to enjoy themselves. That's part of the
attraction to Mayday and I am so excited when I see huge crowds of people come
out. This week was an example of how great the experience can be. I am fairly
certain many people that came out agreed.</span><br />

<div style=" margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The week started with a Fat Tuesday Mardi Gras
celebration. Tim Carroll and Luella treated us with a wonderful show that
night. They were so much fun and their old-school rock and roll sound was
great. There were several new people and a very nice crowd for a Tuesday.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<u1:p></u1:p>
<br />
<div style=" margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.5pt;">Friday was the Boro Art Crawl which was huge! Friday
night had a packed house of lots of new people. There were all kinds of
beautiful art on display, some body painting and very interesting people. My
friend Linsey came from Paducah to hangout and check out Mayday and loved it.
Everyone had such a good time and was so friendly and happy. The Chocolate
Raspberry Stout small batch was delicious also. "Thelma and the
Sleaze" rocked it late into the night to benefit “Reclaim Ourselves.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style=" margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.5pt;">Saturday began with Yoga in the brewery at 1:00 and was
followed by the “Love Bites” Anti-Valentine’s Day Party. It was also a full
house and lots of fun decorations. My Roots Food Truck introduced the Hot
Chicken Waffle Sliders which were a huge hit! I think they have decided to keep
those on the menu for a while (just in case you missed out). “The Secret
Commonwealth” put on an excellent show and there was lots of fun playing darts
and drinking the amazing Red Hibiscus Sour. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div style=" margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: 13.5pt;">I had such a good time this week, and loved seeing
everyone else having a good time as well. Mayday has so many fun things
planned, so get out of the house and come by. More great music and fun is
scheduled for this weekend. I will be there both Friday and Saturday so make
sure to introduce yourself and tell me your Mayday story.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

By the way, have you met Terronn? If no, then you are missing out. If yes, then
you'll know what I'm expressing here. In the previous two blogs I elude to the
community; family feel of the Mayday experience. This time I wanted to focus on
Terronn, a Mayday Treasure that embodies all of the those qualities that help make
the experience. <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Terronn first visited in May of
2014. In the beginning, he started a few scattered visits, but then became more
regular as he started to develop friendships with the staff and customers. One
day he offered Ozzy his assistance with anything he could do. It didn’t take
long for him to receive a text from Ozzy asking him to be the guest pourer on
the Saturday tours. The rest is history!! The Mayday Treasure is born.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">The motto of
Mayday Brewery is "Beer, Hugs, and Rock n' Roll" no one embodies this
motto more than Terronn. In fact, Terronn and Ozzy were the welcoming committee
that greeted me on my first visit. That was definitely a very memorable
impression. A quick visit to check out a new place turned into a 3 hour visit
and fabulous conversation with Terronn. His very friendly, open and welcoming
demeanor topped that visit as one like no other and ensured my return to Mayday.
Now each time I walk in I receive a huge bear hug, a smile, and a sincere
"How are you?” from this tall dark and very handsome man. Trust me when I
say that doesn't happen just anywhere. <o:p></o:p></span><br />

smiling and happy. His energy is enough to make anyone surrounding him smile
and experience something special. In his time at Mayday he continues to see the
growth of the community within the brewery. Many more people are on board to
volunteer their time to help create a very special place for the city of
Murfreesboro. He gives everyone who meets him a wonderful sense of happiness
and community spirit. Ask Terronn why he volunteers at Mayday, he’ll tell you, ‘See
that guy right there (points at Ozzy)? I love that guy and I love the people
that come into Mayday.”</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<o:p></o:p><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Terronn pours his
love into Mayday and on the tour he’ll be pouring delicious beer into your
glass. His face lights up when it is time for the show and it would not be the
same without his humor and smiles and energy. He thoroughly enjoys volunteering
his time and you can feel his love with every glass poured. But I don’t want to
give too much away. You just have to be sure to experience for yourself and I
think you'll agree. So be sure to come out this Saturday and experience Terronn,
The Mayday Treasure, for yourself! Don't forget your hug either. As always, fun
times, good music and excellent food to be enjoyed at Mayday.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Wednesday nights in the
'Boro...where do you go? What do you do? It's hump day, the beginning of the
downhill slope towards the weekend. Yes!! So, why not start the descent with
some delicious beer and great company? Especially when it's 2-for-1 pints at
Mayday. That's what I'm talking about! My recent Wednesday night visit was
loads of fun and very interesting. I met even more really cool people and
enjoyed some delicious beer and hilarious conversation. Wednesdays really give
you the family feel of Mayday. You will meet several of the
"regulars" and find plenty of fun conversations and activities. There
is nothing like sitting at the bar and cutting up and getting to know the staff
and person sitting next to you. I love to talk beer and Kelsey is full of very
interesting beer knowledge. Not to mention local homebrewers that will come in
and spark up very conversation about their recent brewing experiences. It is so
much fun to hear the different things each person learns and shares in their
experiences. Really shows how the brewery promotes community relationships.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Which brings me to
another very interesting conversation I had with Mike. While watching a game of darts, I asked the
participants what they liked about Mayday and what makes it special. In
response, Mike said, "It's the best place to bring your Tender date."
Haha....what a killer quote. It took a few moments for me to stop laughing and
write that down. Just a perfect example of the fun you will have there. My
experience at Mayday has proven that as an accurate statement. It is the perfect
place to bring any date. As soon as you walk in the energy of the environment
instantly creates a calming, welcoming feel. You can relax and enjoy your date,
play some games, listen to good music, and get a good deal on drinks. I say you
have a very, very high chance of a successful date.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Speaking of fun
dates, or just hanging out with cool people, there are tons of activities at
the brewery to help make these times awesome. It is most certainly a very
interactive, open and friendly experience. You can enjoy a very entertaining
game of darts (a blog dedicated to Darts Etiquette 101 is coming...hilarious
stuff), or Giant Jenga. You can pile into the round booth with a group and play
one of many board games available. A perfect opportunity to squeeze in next to
that date. What a great place to just hangout and chill! Its family. Its home!
"The cheers of the 'Boro" as Mike says. I'm sure many other people
agree. I definitely do.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">If you haven't
been on Wednesday night then you should start this week. Like I said 2-for-1
pints, fun people, fun games, fun times!! A great mid week relaxation
experience and great way to start looking forward to the weekend. Get you some
delicious food, delicious beer, and a stellar experience. Then make plans to
come back Saturday for the tour and enjoy some killer music!!!<o:p></o:p></span>Mayday Breweryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12171469086989571655noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4780524584005907239.post-18856502994016773462016-01-26T14:17:00.000-08:002016-01-26T14:19:08.045-08:00The Mayday Blog is Born Again<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Hello all of you lovely readers.
My name is Stephanie and Ozzy has asked me to take over the task of writing the
blog for Mayday Brewery. I'll start with a brief introduction of myself. I was
born and raised in the beautiful Murfreesboro, then moved to Paducah, KY in
2005. There's not much of anything going on in that tiny city, but that was
where my story began. While there I started a cute little family and now have 3
super cool children. I was also introduced to powerlifting and am now a
competitive powerlifter. Way cool, right?! Then, I went to my first brewery and
instantly fell in love with craft beer. Also in my time there I became quite a
foodie and reconnected with my hippie side, spending as much time as possible
seeking adventure, exploring nature, appreciating art and developing a unique
palette for food and beer. November 2015 I moved back home and this is where my
story starts a new chapter. Murfreesboro
has completely changed over the last 10 years, and I have lost contact with
many of my old friends. This was leaving me feeling as though I'm the new kid
in a new city and trying to find a cool place to hangout. My brother had told
me of Mayday so I looked them up and paid them a visit.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">When I go to a brewery it is 75%
the experience that hooks me, even when it comes to tasting the beer. I walked
in at 4:30 on a Thursday with no idea of where I'm going or what to expect (my
favorite way to embrace the experience). The first thing I saw was the very
interesting entrance and the checkered walk path. Then I turned the corner and saw a super rad mural and the curvy checkered
path continues. As I'm walking towards the tasting room my mind is just going
wild with the brilliant stimuli already observed. I was full of energy and
excited to see what was beyond the next door. As soon as I enter the tasting
room I am greeted by the beautiful Emily, who knows her beer well (always an
excellent quality). The entire space from the entrance, to the brewery, the
tasting room and outside space is incredible! Then it's time to taste the
beer...AMAZING! I'm sold!<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">After introductions and
conversation Mayday volunteer Terron explains the Saturday tours and lets me know that I have to check one out. Unfortunately
my schedule would not permit me to attend until this past Saturday. WOW, WOW,
WOW!!! Up to this point I had only been able to come on a few weekday evenings,
and my experience was awesome every time. Everyone at Mayday (from Ozzy the
owner to the bartenders, and the customers give off a very welcoming, super
cool, chill vibe that anyone would love. I've met really cool people and made
some new friends. But, the tour takes
the Mayday experience to a whole new level. It makes this place truly a one of
a kind brewery that stands above any of the many breweries I have visited.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;"> On other brewery tours you walk around and
listen to someone give interesting facts about the building, what they do and
their brewing process and maybe a little taste of one of the beers. That's it,
simple, cool knowledge and you've been in the space they brew their delicious
beers. The Mayday tour is a whole new reality you will not find anywhere else.
Ozzy is amazing! These tours all about loving the people, and creating an
awesome time for them. He is full of life and energy and love and makes sure
that you will be also. This tour is phenomenal. Every person has the ability to
be an active contributor to this energy. Ozzy brings an element to your brewery
experience that can't even be described with words. Just "you have to
experience yourself to understand!" On this tour you will get some really
cool facts and learn how the brewing process works, but in a way no other
brewery does. Not to mention “ample samples” of their four core beers poured by
Terron who isn’t shy in adding his wit during the tour. These tours have so
much going on it is hard to take it all in on just one tour. So, plan to take
more than one. It will be worth every penny and second spent doing so. I met so
many people on this tour and discovered that several people had taken the tour
several times. That is how rad this is. In fact, before taking this tour I've
had multiple conversations with many people I meet through work that told me
how crazy these tours are. This weekend I met folks from Hendersonville who
brought their visiting relatives down through the snow to take the tour. So,
clearly, Mayday Brewery rocks! I've been to breweries (both big and small) and
none of them even come close to creating the experience of Mayday. Part of life
(the most important part I believe) should be creating fun and happiness and
making wonderful memories. What better way than in the presence of an awesome
environment and phenomenal company and delicious beer? I'm already planning a
gathering there with my friends from Paducah. Mayday has amazing local musicians
play on Fridays and Saturdays with quite a variety of different musical styles.
And if you get hungry, My Roots food
truck is there serving delicious food everyday that Mayday is open (try the
veggie spring rolls...my fav!). Oh...and can't forget yoga in the brewery every
other week. . <o:p></o:p></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt;">Mayday is also an excellent place
to host a private event. They rent the space after hours for birthday parties,
weddings, receptions, showers, reunions, and even memorial services. So, come
by and check them out. Support the local businesses and musicians and the
community and embrace the uniqueness of Mayday Brewery. I plan to write more of
these blogs and would love to include you in them. The community is what helps
perpetuate environment of Mayday, so make sure I get to meet you. Here are some
fun pictures of recent tours. Come join one of them Saturday at 3:00, 4:00, and
5:00! Super excited to see you out there!</span><br />

First, let me apologize for not blogging since November of 2013. Good grief. </div>

In the spirit of always trying to make the Mayday Experience a truly unique one, I am going to start inviting some of my friends with various talents to pour beer on our tours. It may be people that you know, or it could just be someone that I think is cool and that will compliment what I am doing. </div>

So many so many awesome people have come into our lives this year that we will
never had the opportunity to meet without the brewery. We have had a year of
trying our best not to suck and it doesn’t come without a ton of help. We have
produced more than 1,500 barrels of beer this past year. That is 46,500
gallons. We have hosted lots of private parties, done a few of tours, given
some beer and money to several charities, and had a ton of fun. This being the
season of Thanksgiving, I want to thank so many people. I will forget someone,
but suck it up, it wasn’t intentional.</span><span style="font-family: "Cambria","serif";"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

Can't Live With 'em, Can't Live Without 'em.Beer festivals are fun. Pay one price, get to try a ton of awesome beers all in one place with a bunch of cool people. Who wouldn't love that?<br />
<br />
I'd like to give you the inside scoop from the brewer's perspective if I may. As I see it, there are three types of beer festivals:<br />
<i>The Givers</i>: Those who are run by people who volunteer their time and give all of the proceeds to charity. We support these festivals and will participate and promote these as much as we can.<br />
<i>The Buyers</i>: Those who make money on festivals, give a portion of the proceeds to charity and purchase the beer at wholesale from the brewer. We participate in these when it makes sense logistically. <br />
<i>The Takers</i>: Those who make money on festivals, give a portion of their proceeds to charity, and ask the brewers to donate beer in exchange for "exposure" for their breweries. The <a href="http://www.tncraftbrewers.org/">Tennessee Brewers Guild</a> has taken the stand that as a group, we will not participate in these festivals. Mayday agrees with the guild. We take great pride in our beer and we believe it is worth the wholesale price that festival organizers would have to pay for it. You, the craft beer lover, will gladly pay for the opportunity to attend their festival to drink our beer, but the organizers are unwilling to pay for the beer being served. <br />
<br />
This is why Mayday will not participate in Brewsboro coming up October 12.<br />
<br />
If you want to come by the brewery, buy a beer and discuss it, I'd be happy to.<br />

We rent our tasting room/bar out to private parties after hours. We have been looking forward to this weekend, because two of our regular patroons, Dustin and Sarah were having their wedding reception from 8:00 to 12:00 Saturday night. Dustin and Sarah are awesome people, so we knew that their friends would be just as cool.<br />
<br />
Another one of our regulars is Dave. Dave owns his own metal fabrication/powder coat/sand blast shop just across the railroad tracks from the brewery. Check out his work <a href="http://www.badassmetals.com/bam_customs_main_page.html">BAM Customs</a>. Dave works on Saturday, and has always shows up around 7:00. The first time we met Dave we were having a private party that night and he shows up and stays thru the entire party, not knowing he was the only stranger there. So, now it is running joke that every time there is a private party, Dave will show up and hang with the actual invited guests. <br />
<br />
Last night was no exception, we had bets going behind the bar about what time Dave would show. He strolled in about 7:35 and ordered his usual Angry Redhead. We made fun of him of course, because he has a reputation to live up to. Dave sat and drank with the regular patrons and actually met the groom. He finished his beer at about 10:00 and left saying he would come back.<br />
<br />
The wedding reception went on and everyone forgot about Dave not being there.<br />

At 11:30, the limo driver arrived to pick up the bride and groom, and the party was still going pretty strong. Shortly behind the limo driver, in walks Dave with one of our Jugs of Fun in his hand. He had taken a jug and sandblasted a message for the newly weds. He said later that when he saw the limo go by his shop that he had better hurry up. <br />

Dustin and Sarah loved the gift from the 'wedding crasher' and I (Ozzy) filled it with Angry Redhead to take on their hornymoon. We have been a little busy since we opened, and I have needed to update this blog for some time. I thought I would just give you a few photos of the place and encourage everyone to come out to the tasting room. We are open Thur-Fri 4-8 and Saturday 1-8. If you don't know where we are, using Google Maps or Mapquest, just type in Mayday Brewery, Murfreesboro TN (or other software 521 Old Salem Rd Murf) and it will take you to our parking lot that looks a lot like the photo below. You will have to walk down a couple of long hallways, but it will be worth it. <br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
Hello All,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Well, since the last blog post was back in February, its
time for and update! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As close friends of the brewery already know, I have finally
made the move down from Chicago!</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Since then it has been quite busy. The first week consisted
of me attending Boiler School over at Allied Boiler in Murfreesboro. Dave and
his crew at Allied put on an awesome class that taught safe and proper
operation of boilers. During the class I got an opportunity to get acquainted
with Mayday’s boiler, which is pictured below. <br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
After boiler school my attention has been focused on the
Mayday brews.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We have been working
with a couple companies getting quotes for hops and malt. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The unfortunate part about starting a
brewery this late in the year is all the hop contracts for 2012 are done,
meaning there aren’t many hops available. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Another one of the many small hurdles to overcome when
starting a brewery. </div>

Next up: Hot Chicken and Jorts III. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

Our good friends at Jubilee Beer will be putting on their 3rd
annual Hot Chicken and Jorts, This party is sure to be a blast! You can
guarantee the Mayday crew will be there decked out in our full red neck

Finally, some minor work has been going on in the building.
Hopefully the major work will start by the end of next week!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

Our equipment from DME is coming along nicely and is scheduled
for delivery on September 13th! And let me tell ya, this system is
going to be SWEET! Pics of the equipment progress and other Mayday news can be found on our Mayday face
